What is National Night Out?

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign held on the first Tuesday of August that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live. It’s a night for neighbors to connect with each other and with local law enforcement, fostering a sense of community and working together to enhance safety.

National Night Out was established in 1984 with funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), U.S. Department of Justice.
