Highland Hospital Neighborhood Committee

Highland Hospital is a well respected community asset with a positive impact on Rochester. The Hospital sits along the West entrance into the neighborhood and our much used pedestrian route into Highland Park and School #12. Given its neighborhood location and large presence, ongoing communication between neighbors and the hospital is crucial to address hospital related issues that arise and negatively impact the health, safety, and quality of life in our neighborhood.

A small group of neighbors together with Highland Hospital personnel have been meeting for several  years now. The purpose  of these meetings is to keep communication open between the Hospital and the residents of the neighborhood so that we may identify problems and create solutions in a mutually respectful environment.

Results of these meetings include new trees and lilac bushes along Rockingham Street, a landscaping plan for the Rockingham side of the hospital, cleanup of debris around Mt. Vernon and  Bellevue, fewer smokers in the neighborhood, and fewer early mornings and late night deliveries. More importantly, a channel is open for Highland Hospital and the neighborhood to work together.

Please come and share your concerns, positive comments.
