Community Gardeners’ Potluck/Input Meeting – March 17
Despite this morning’s blustery beginnings, spring is indeed on its way. It’s time to get ready for the 2014 gardening season! To do so, I am writing to invite you to participate in a Community Gardeners’ Potluck/Input Meeting on Monday, March 17th from 6pm-8pm at the Danforth Community Center – 200 West Avenue, Rochester 14611.
The purpose of the Community Gardeners’ Potluck/Input Meeting is multi-fold:
- Food & Conversation. Let’s take this opportunity to gather together, and enjoy some good food and conversation with fellow gardeners and neighborhood leaders. Please bring a favorite dish or dessert to pass. Feel free to bring homemade jams, jellies or pickles/preserves to share with the group.
- Brainstorming & Input. How can the City of Rochester better support community gardens? How can community gardens better support one another and better connect with neighborhood/community groups? We’ll take some time to discuss these and other ideas or questions you may have.
- Planning Special Garden Events for 2014 – Quadrant Based Garden Tours? There are so many amazing gardening efforts taking place in our city, it’s time to showcase those efforts for the broader community! What I am envisioning is a series of tours that highlight a few garden projects in each of the city’s four quadrants. Leaders from the gardens would be on hand the day of the tour to provide information about the history of the garden, specific plants in the garden and/or projects that are taking place on the garden site. I’ll provide more specific information at the gathering and would love to hear your thoughts and ideas for quadrant based tours or other special garden events in 2014.
This email serves as a ‘SAVE THE DATE’ and I will be sending out an official invitation by mail later this week. In the meantime, please let me know if you have any questions or comments. Also, please feel free to forward this invite on to community gardeners in your networks (that garden in the City of Rochester).
I look forward to seeing you on Monday, March 17th at the Danforth Rec Center at 6pm! Please RSVP via email by Friday, March 14th. Please include in your RSVP what type of food/drink item you will contribute to the potluck (if you are able to contribute).
